当地养殖户给记者算了笔账，去年底他以每斤8元购进的40斤的活羊，只花了320元，育肥到80斤后，饲料成本为150元，这时总成本为470元，如果按照目前的活羊价格，可以卖到1120元，每只活羊的利润就有650元。
而在一年前，同样的情况最多他只能赚到100元。
据业内人士分析，造成现阶段羊肉价格上涨较快的原因，主要是2014~2016年羊肉价格持续低迷，养羊效益下降：
一是肉羊养殖大户、专业合作社亏损严重内蒙羊肉，大幅减少了肉羊存栏量，导致养殖规模下降，造成现阶段羊源不足，市场缺口较大；
其次是饲草料、人工等养殖成本上涨对羊肉价格起到刚性支撑作用；
三是传统羊肉养殖区如宁夏、新疆、河北、东三省等省区羊肉消费市场回暖，为争夺羊源，提高羊肉收购价格，引起市场连锁反应。业内人士认为，随着中秋节的到来，羊肉消费需求进一步增加，价格还会上涨。
